Mr. Gerald Rudolph Ford (1913-2006)
was the 38th President of the United States. President Ford's presidency followed a long career in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he was liked and respected by his
colleagues. During his Presidency from 1974 to 1977, President Ford tried to restore public confidence in the
national leadership and in the institutions of government. His decency and integrity went far toward healing the wounds of Watergate. President Ford's administration was one of the most open in years, and Ford sought to
emphasize candor in his relationships with the public and the
press. |

Dr. Hu served as a member of the US Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS from 2003 to 2006. Dr. Hu had a career appointment as Scientific Review
Administrator at the National Institutes of Health and Associate Director
of Howard University Cancer Research Center. She was also appointed a
Member of the Defense Advisory Committee On Women In The Services
(DACOWITS) with a civilian rank equivalent to three-star General by
Secretary of Defense from 1990 to 1993. Dr. Hu's poem, "San Francisco" and her profile were selected to be published in the "International Who's Who of Poetry" and Dr. Hu was selected as
the number one poet and poem in this prestigious publication by the
International Poetry Society. Dr. Hu's poem "Early Morning in
Lausanne" and her profile were also selected as the number one poet and poem in the
"Best Poets and Poems in 2004" published by the International Poetry Society
in the United States.
